Corporate Philanthropy

Anthropic Puts a Fifth of Itself Toward the Public Good

A new fund starts with 5% of the shares and may grow by 2% for every 50% rise in value; with founder and staff pledges, roughly 20% is now committed

Anthropic announced the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund on Sunday, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. Subject to stockholder approval, 5% of the company’s shares go in now. For every 50% increase in Anthropic’s value above a set baseline, the board may add up to another 2%.

Counting earlier pledges, roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are now committed to the public good. The co-founders pledged at the start to donate 80% of their equity, and about half of the staff take part in an equity donation match the company has run since its founding. The announcement drew more than 13,000 likes.

The company framed the escalator as a deliberate contrast: tech firms commonly hand executives escalating pay awards, and Anthropic says it is directing that equity to the public instead. The details that matter most, the fund’s governance and the valuation milestones, are promised “in the coming months.”

Codex Ops

Day 14: Codex Lets You Edit the Past

The desktop app can now edit earlier messages in a thread; dots are coming to the EU; and Tibo gets asked for resets on the street

Day 14 of Thibault Sottiaux’s public diary was a small one, he admitted: in the Codex desktop app you can now edit previous messages within a thread. “Long time requested, and took way too long to get that one out,” he wrote. Asked whether an edited prompt counts as a steer, he replied that it “registers as time travel.”

Earlier, a user complained that their dot had vanished from the desktop app. Tibo pointed to the EU: a dot created elsewhere will keep working for someone who finds themselves in the EU, and dots are coming to the EU “in the future.” He also reported that people “have escaped the TL” and now ask him for usage resets on the street. “I’ll make little cards to hand out,” he wrote, to more than 8,000 likes.

Altman on a Humanoid Robot: “We Will”

OpenAI promises “a cool demo in 2027” but no robots on the streets for years, and 27 robotics openings point to hardware made in-house

Asked on the Sources podcast whether OpenAI will actually build a humanoid robot, Sam Altman answered in two words: “We will.” The human shape makes sense, he said, because “the world is very much designed for people,” but the body matters less than “the brain that makes the robot work.”

He gave Fortune a timeline: “I think we’ll have a cool demo in 2027 ... I don’t think there will be robots walking the streets for a few years longer.” OpenAI lists 27 robotics openings, Engadget reports, in motion control, state estimation, actuator control and whole-robot behaviour, plus custom actuators, manufacturing and supply chain. One posting says the near-term goal is general-purpose robots that help skilled workers build infrastructure.

Claude Code

Claude Code Forks by Default, and Claude Design Gets a Closing Date

Version 2.1.302 turns on fork subagents everywhere, moves subagents to the background, and warns that standalone Claude Design closes by December 14

Claude Code 2.1.302 makes fork subagents (subagent_type: "fork") the default in claude -p, the Agent SDK, the desktop app and VS Code, as they already were in the terminal; CLAUDE_CODE_FORK_SUBAGENT=0 turns them off. The desktop app and VS Code now always run the main conversation’s subagents in the background, as the terminal does, instead of letting Claude choose.

Tucked into the list: /design-sync and /design-login now warn that standalone Claude Design at claude.ai/design closes by December 14, 2026. The release also adds an Idle compaction switch to /config and refuses image files over 128 MB in the Read tool. Separately, RoundtableSpace reported that Anthropic cut Claude Code’s p90 time to first token from 4.07 to 1.33 seconds for local sessions, and from about 17 to about 6 in the cloud.

Plugins

Epic and Spotify Hand the Agents New Instruments

An official Unreal Engine plugin puts hundreds of editor tools inside Claude Code; Save to Spotify turns agent-made audio into episodes in your library

Epic Games published Unreal Engine Skills for Claude Code in Anthropic’s official plugin marketplace. It drives the Unreal Editor over MCP, the Model Context Protocol, with hundreds of tools across more than 30 toolsets: actors, Blueprints, materials, Niagara, Control Rigs, Sequencer, State Trees, widgets, the Gameplay Ability System and automation testing. The editor must be open with its ModelContextProtocol and AllToolsets plugins enabled. RoundtableSpace’s post on it drew more than 4,300 likes.

Spotify’s open-source Save to Spotify is a command-line tool built for agents. The agent sources, scripts and narrates a morning briefing, a meeting recap, a news roundup or a bedtime story with your child’s name in it, and the tool saves it to Spotify beside your other listening. It makes no speech itself: Kokoro runs free and local by default, with OpenAI or ElevenLabs as options.

The Weekend Workshop

An FPS, an Anime and a Game Boy Mario, All Made in Code

Builders spent the weekend showing what their agents made, and Thariq would now rather vibe-code games than play them

Riposte is a browser FPS that its maker, who says he is not a game developer, built with Claude Code and three.js in about a month. Weapons, characters and maps are all generated in code, with no Blender and no imported models. The cost note is the useful part: he started on the €20-a-month plan, kept hitting limits, shifted tasks to Sonnet 5.5, then moved to the €90 plan in October and has not hit a limit since. He also had to tell Claude Code, in the project instructions, to stop spinning up parallel agents for everything.

“Gus & Spark” is billed as a 25-minute anime episode made by Claude: Opus 5.5 worked on it for more than 15 hours and wrote 34,000 lines of code, with no AI-generated video, every frame drawn by code, for 986 million tokens, about $370 at API prices. Others posted a Game Boy Advance demake of Super Mario 64’s movement and collision code, checked against a reference implementation, and a small Three Kingdoms strategy game with Mount & Blade-style battles, built with Codex and Unreal in about a week.

Thariq (trq212) put the mood into words: he often would “prefer to vibe code little parts of games than actually play games these days.” He is back on his own side project, weighing whether its hook could be letting players vibe-code their own characters while the game balances them.

Glimpse Claims Sharp Eyes, pstack Proves Things & Grok Bot Passes 10,000 Ratings

A small visual-reasoning model; a formal-verification skill; two camps on agent UI; a free agents course and 177 science skills

Elorian released Glimpse, its first model, which RoundtableSpace reports is state of the art on visual thinking, counting and labelling, and short video understanding, beating GPT-6 Sol, Gemini and Claude Opus 5.5 at visual reasoning; we could not check the claim independently. pstack v0.15.27 ships /create-formal-verification-skill, a beta meta-skill that builds a new skill plus a formal verification suite for the properties you want checked. Its author, poteto, also read the replies to her question “is chat the final form of agent UI?” and saw two camps forming: agents as an extension of one’s own mind, “like a cyborg,” and agents as independent beings that make their own decisions.

Grok Bot passed 10,000 App Store ratings with a 4.9-star average, a milestone poteto reposted, and Eric Zakariasson answered a request to put Grok Bot in the iOS share menu with “we’re cooking something here.” Alexandr Wang urged people to give Muse Wonder “a shot for your coding needs.” And for the evenings: the University of Michigan’s EECS 498, Applied Agentic Software Engineering, has its lecture and lab slides free on GitHub and runs on local models through Ollama, while K-Dense’s MIT-licensed scientific-agent-skills packs 177 science skills for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor.
