Gemini 4 Argon Rolls Out Globally
Google’s new frontier model for hard real-world work—and it taught a robot cornhole from a video

Google DeepMind declared Gemini 4 Argon globally available: a frontier model aimed at end-to-end hard problems across coding, enterprise workflows and cyber defense. It is live for paid Gemini API users, Google AI Ultra subscribers in Antigravity and AI Studio, and—critically for civilians—Pro and Ultra seats in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search.
The demos are not shy. DeepMind showed Argon watching a human play cornhole, inventing a physics simulation, then coaching Apptronik’s Apollo humanoid to sink seven throws in a row. Antigravity posted multi-agent translation across 17 languages in two days, a Blender pagoda built by looping agents, and a claimed 35% jump in agentic developer velocity on Google’s own codebases. GeminiApp adds Canvas synth-from-webcam toys and Antigravity coding inside the macOS Gemini app.
A planted recorder, models that traced it, an FBI arrest—and no sign of stolen weights

OpenAI Newsroom said the company discovered a sophisticated recording device hidden in an office, used its own models to understand the hardware and who planted it, referred the case to the FBI, and saw an arrest. The employee was terminated. OpenAI says it has no indication that model weights, source code or customer data were exfiltrated. The FBI investigation continues.

Anthropic’s engineering blog admits the obvious problem of 2026: developer infrastructure built for humans buckles when agents merge code. In May the lab merged about 2,500 changes a day; by September it was more than 30,000. The fix was a new version-control system and a full monorepo migration off git—done in five months.
Second full-chain award in Chrome history—built with OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol in six days

XBOW CEO Oege de Moor says Google paid the firm $250,000 for a full-chain Chrome exploit—only the second such award in the browser’s history, and the first under 2026 rules. After Google already knew one bug in an earlier chain, the team rebuilt in six days with about $40,000 of compute and GPT-5.6 Sol as a teammate. His warning: the cost of critical vulns is collapsing for attackers and defenders alike.

Roundtable also reported Character.AI filed Chapter 11 and agreed to sell some assets to Disney for $20M. On the Codex desk, Tibo’s Day 9: ChatGPT & Codex desktop disk state cut ~60%.
